Words in this collection
- 듣기 / 읽기 / 쓰기 (deut-gi / ilk-gi / sseu-gi) — TOPIK I = Listening + Reading only. TOPIK II = Listening + Writing (1st period) + Reading (2nd period). Writing is the most difficult and requires the most preparation.
- 기출문제 (gi-chul-mun-je) — Past papers can be downloaded for free from the official NIIED website. Preparing for TOPIK without past papers is only half the battle.
- 한다체 / 해라체 (han-da-che / hae-ra-che) — A written style used in descriptive and academic writing. Ends in -da like '간다' (go), '먹는다' (eat), '아름답다' (is beautiful). Confusing this with the haeyo form (-해요) will result in a point deduction.
- 한국어능력시험 (TOPIK) (han-gu-geo-neung-nyeok-si-heom) — Administered by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED). Conducted in over 80 countries worldwide. Consists of levels 1-6. A core requirement for studying, working, or getting permanent residency in Korea.
- 논거 (non-geo) — In a TOPIK essay, having only a claim without supporting evidence will result in a low content score. You must clearly present your reasoning with 'Because it is OO'.
- 서론 / 본론 / 결론 (seo-ron / bol-lon / gyeol-lon) — The basic structure of TOPIK question 54 essay. Starting without an introduction or ending without a conclusion will lead to a massive deduction in organization scores.
